Tell Me About Her
The 2026 Mother's Day Giveaway
A few weeks ago, I was texting with one of my favorite clients after delivering her gallery. We have worked together numerous times, but this session was a little different because it was just for her. No kids, no distractions. The focus was entirely on who she is in this season of her life.
Getting in front of the camera isn't always easy. And making the decision to do it yourself, for yourself, and by yourself takes some serious guts.
But the payoff can be enormous.
I remember her saying she couldn’t pick a favorite photo because each one was beautiful in some way. I knew what she was getting at, because if we’re being honest… it’s so easy to look at ourselves and immediately see the things we’d change. But when we do that, we can miss the beauty that exists right alongside all of it.
It’s kind of what we do, isn’t it? Especially the moms.
We show up for everyone else.
We take care of everything.
We make sure the people around us feel supported, loved, seen…
and sometimes we quietly move ourselves to the background and we become really comfortable existing there.
Personally, I think the women in our lives deserve to be seen. They deserve to feel appreciated, they deserve to be moved to the front.
And maybe most importantly — they deserve to see themselves as we see them.
That's why every year for the last ...eh six, seven years 😉 I have done a Mother's Day Giveaway.
(Might be making that up— I honestly have no idea how long I've been doing this)
I don’t remember the exact moment the idea came to me, but giving back has always been part of how I run this business. Whether it’s donating gift certificates to local fundraisers, offering a senior session to someone who needs it, or simply sharing and supporting events in this community… it’s always mattered to me.
As I've moved through my photography journey, I've realized that part of what fills me up and drives my passion is helping women see themselves beyond the roles they play and who they are to the people in their lives. Through my photography work, I try to show the beauty and the magic that exists alongside the perceived imperfections.
That's why the Mother’s Day Giveaway has always held a little more weight. It's so much more than a free photo session. It’s centered around the women in our lives who somehow manage to do the most— often while asking for the least.
From the beginning, it was important to me that the giveaway felt inclusive.
You’ve probably seen me say it before— I don’t care if you’re a dog mom, a grandmom, a mom of ten, a stepmom, an auntie, a mother-in-law, or someone still finding your way into motherhood. The label doesn’t matter.
What matters is taking a moment out of our day— and not just on Mother's Day, to think about the women who mean the most to us… and actually showing it (on social media, of course 😉).
In the beginning, it was like, follow and share— typical and boring. The last couple of years I've tried to turn it into more by asking people to post nominations by commenting and tagging. To share the moms and what makes them so special. Post it, share it, let them know!
This year, I am trying to take it even further with the 2026 "Tell Me About Her" Mother's Day Giveaway. I am hoping people will not only comment and tag to enter the mom they think should win, but that they will tell me why. Tell me about her, or enter yourself and tell me about you. It doesn't matter how much or how little— an entry is an entry and I count them all. But what a beautiful opportunity to honor the women in our lives, to let them be seen and appreciated, and to move them to the front — even if it's just for a little bit.
These nominations matter, these women matter... and the photo session matters..
The photo session is the cherry on top. Your tags and comments make your appreciation known and the photo session will allow them to be seen. The beauty in the chaos. The woman she is, front and center— and that matters too.
In fact, I believe it matters so much, that this year I added another new piece to the giveaway.
For the first time ever, I am offering 10% off any session or gift certificate purchase made in the month of May to those who enter the giveaway— because why should there be only one winner, right?
If you haven't taken part in the Mother's Day Giveaway before, this is the perfect chance to show the women in your life how much you appreciate them. Or, if you are ready to get in front of the camera yourself, enter the giveaway for YOU! At the very least, nominate someone and then take advantage of the 10% off — you can book a session in May and schedule it for anytime in 2026. Or use the 10% to get a gift certificate, they don't expire.
That's how important I think it is to move the women in our lives from the background to the forefront. To honor them, appreciate them, and show them we care.
So, Tell Me About Her — I'm all ears.
